Rubavu which is known as a tourism district, has inaugurated the Kivu Intare Arena, expected to host various events, including conferences and concerts.
Local entrepreneurs and investors believe that Kivu Intare Arena will facilitate events, given its proximity to the Rwanda-Congo border and Lake Kivu as well. They also highlight that the facility’s completion aims to accelerate development particularly in tourism, as it caters to a youth demographic eager for entertainment.
Patience Uwase, who works at the Centre d’Accueil Saint Francois Xavier (CASFX), commented that “Kivu Arena is a solution for hosting conferences. There were times we had events but lacked suitable venues. This building [Kivu Arena] can host up to 1,000 people. Being close to the border and Lake Kivu is good and everyone is pleased with this new facility. We thank the RPF Inkotanyi for this beautiful structure.”
Mulindwa Prosper, the Mayor of Rubavu reiterated that a large conference hall is now available in Rubavu. He mentioned that the hall has the capacity to host 1,000 seated guests and will also be used for various concerts.
The construction of this building, funded by RPF Inkotanyi, has an investment of over 5 billion RWF, with an additional contribution of 921 million RWF from different districts in the Western Province.
